Los Angeles, CA:

What: Rock the Bells
When: August 11
Where: NOS Events Center, San Bernardino, California
Since its inception in 2003, Rock the Bells has become more than a music festival. It has become a rite of passage for thousands of core, social, conscious, and independent hip-hop heads. Catch it this summer when it hits California. For more info check myspace.com/rockthebells.

What: Antidoto Festival
When: September 15th
Where: Greek Theater, Los Angeles, California

New York, NY:

What: NY Dominican Day Parade
When: August 12
Where: 6th Avenue New York, NY
Quisqueya pride takes over the streets of midtown Manhattan for the 25th anniversary of the New York Dominican Parade. Also established in 1982, the parade has become one of the major desfiles the city of New York City (which has the most Dominicans in the U.S.). GalosCorp.com.

Miami, Fl:

What: Festival Miami
When: September 1-October 31
Where: University of Miami, Gusman Concert Hall, Coral Gables, FL
Don’t miss a month-long program of musical performances and dance. Hosted by the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, the festival includes a varied program that spans jazz and blues to classical and chamber music. For more info call (305) 284 4940.

Chicago, IL:

What: 19th Annual Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival
When: August 26
Where: Grant Park, Chicago, IL

What: Chicago Jazz Festival
When: August 31-September 2, 11:00am-9:30pm
Where: Grant Park, Chicago, IL
Skat, bebop and smooth notes come home to the Midwest in this three-day festival that showcases an eclectic mix of artists in one of America's musical capitals. More info at cityofchicago.org.

Houston, TX:

What: The Houston International Jazz Festival
When: August 5-7
Where: Bayou Place and the Verizon Wireless Theater, Houston, TX

What: Latino Book and Family Festival
When: September 29-30
Where: George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston, TX
The 5th Annual Houston Latino Book and Family Festival presents 50 Latino authors. The Festival’s main theme: reading is important and can make a difference in a young person’s life.
