Is he going to text you?
A few weeks ago, the Obama Campaign texted a message: “Be the First to Know”, Senator Obama would be texting his choice for Vice President in a few days.
I have eagerly been awaiting my phone to beep.
One of the greatest advancement that the presumptive Democratic nominee for President, Senator Barack Obama, has made to the world of national political campaigning is to incorporate technology. Which is just AWESOME!
Myself, along with many of my friends and people I know, usually have about 5 email accounts, yahoo, gmail, work, school, and the old school hotmail. We also have MySpace, Facebook, Flkr, Photobucket, and other online social networks. We have the latest in gadgets, a cell phone, a trio, a blackberry, or a sidekick. We subscribe to podcasts that go directly into our iTunes, that we download to our iPod, that we connect to the iPod dock that plays in our bedroom, bathroom, car and pretty much follows us everywhere. We are mobile, we are online, we are literally on the go. We want everything instantly. When it happens, by the second.
Unlike that other old wrinkly white haired dude (per Paris Hilton!) who has affirmed he doesn’t know how to send email in “cyber space”, I like the idea that my potential future President, is so hip and trendy with the times. Senator Obama can text me while I am eating my Mac N Cheese at my university campus while I try to read through some books to let me know who he chose as VP. In fact, I prefer it!
Senator Obama has demonstrated that the power of communication and information transcends the typical political methods we have known in the past; which include phone banking, door canvassing and flyer distribution. His ability to connect via email and text is innovative, daring, and obviously more connected to the virtual world we live in.
So if you want to be hip and trendy with the times, you can text VP 62262 to receive a text message on your mobile phone about Senator Obama’s Vice Presidential choice.
Be the first to know!
