Brand New Updates From Marcos & The Blackout Beat!!!

Hey everyone!  I know its been a while since my last blog but I finally got a chance to write a update for you all.  As you can see we have a lot of things cooking and its a crazy time for us all.  Before you read the updates I just really want to get the point across  that I am at a really good place in my life right now.  I have more problems than I ever did but my attitude and state of mind is at a much higher level than before.  This is what is allowing me to get closer to my dreams.  Im still very hungry, driven and ambitious but i also have great respect and appreciation for what i have and what I have already accomplished.  I’m also incredibly thankful for everyone that has been put in my life: family friends, mentors, and everyone in-between!   I just wanted to put that out there!  Anyways.... back to the updates!

Juan Alvarez, Live @ Rojas LP - After months of recording, mixing, planning and marketing,  Juan’s album is finally here!  The official release date for the album is July 18th.  Juan will be throwing a big release party at Rojas Restaurant that day.  The party will include live music, free booze, food, and more!  We are all happy for Juan and excited to see him take his career to the next level with this album.

TBA -  Armando’s album To Be Announced(TBA) is almost done!!!  Armando produced all of the album and wrote a large portion of it.  Since Armando isn’t a recording artist his voice won’t really be heard on TBA but every Blackout Beat recording artist can!  I’ve been pretty involved with TBA since day one and I can tell you that the artistic growth that Armando displays is amazing.  It really does blow The Revolution away.  We are in the last few weeks of recording and mixing for TBA.  We have already begun the marketing campaign and we will really give it a kick with the premier of the album’s first single, “About U” which features yours truly!

The Waring - The Warning is a free mixtape we will be offering instead of Revolution 1.5.  The project will mostly feature Refecshaun as well as some new tracks from me, Los, and Juan Alvarez. We will also be including a preview of Armando’s TBA album and my Invasion Album with The Warning.  We are in talks with local business to sponsor the project and distribute it as part of a cross marketing venture.  More on this bellow.

Invasion (My Solo Album) - I am not as far into my LP as Armando is with his.  I currently have 2 completed and mixed tracks with two in the recording phase.  So far I have Reflecshaun, Lexie, and Juan Alvarez on the album.  Although I plan on a few more collaborations I will keep this album mostly solo.  I’m really happy about the sound and direction that this project is going in.  I defiantly have my Latin flavor in there but there is also a large portion of the “Blackout Beat Hip Hop Sound”.

TBA is completely  produced by Armando.  He is not a artist, he is a songwriter and a producer, thats why his album doesn't have any of my production.  I, on the other hand, am a artist.  So once we finish TBA I defiantly plan on getting in the studio with Armando to record some songs for my LP.

The working title for the album is “Invasion”.  The concept of this album has duel meanings.  On one had the “invasion”  is a musical invasion.  Our sound is beginning to “invade” the mainstream and status quo.  We are attaching our brand to more than music.  You now see the Blackout Beat attached to TV, local business, online communities, and print media.  Its a media invasion.  The second meaning is referring to love.  Every track on the album is about a relationship that I have had in my life.  Some songs are about the same relationships but talk about different situations.  On the title track “Invasion”, I talk about how meeting a new person can be so intense that it completely overwhelms you, it throws you off course and they begin to “invade” your life.  I will be releasing the albums first single in a few weeks!  Stay tuned for the announcement of what the song is!

Salsa Night -  Salsa Night is going on every week this summer @ The Venue Night Club, located in Pueblo, Colorado’s Downtown Historic District.  Our crowd has been getting better each week and I can honestly say that it is one of my weeks high points.  It gives me a chance to step outside of myself for the night.  There is really nothing better then dancing with friends to awesome music (that I play since I’m the DJ!).

Website - In one weeks time we will be relaunching our website.  Its being completely redesigned from the ground up.  I think you all will really enjoy the easier navigation and new features.  We will defiantly make a announcement when the new site is up!

Reality Show - Our reality show, Behind The Beat has been doing great and I think we where able to hook a lot of people with the first two episodes.  Unfortunately we had to pull episode 3 two days before its premier.  The reason we pulled the 3rd episode and cancelled the rest of season one is due the fact that we “let go of” a few of the show’s cast members.  The members who where let go played a large part of season one but really played no part in the actual music aspect of Blackout.  Since our main product is music it made sense to move away from the things that where not a real part of our machine.  Season two is coming in a few weeks and season 3 will take place entirely in NYC!  Make sure you all check it out!

NYC -  We will be returning to New York City in a few weeks.  I’m so excited about this trip.  Since my last NYC trip Armando and I have not been able to get the city out of our blood!  We are taking more people with us this time and like last time, we are going for business!  We will be meeting with some friends in the industry in an effort to advance our careers.  We will also be spending time networking, promoting, and performing!!  If you would like to see how our trip goes you are in luck!  The third season of our reality show, Behind The Beat will be shot entirely in NYC!  I can’t wait for you all to see, read, and hear about this trip!  I love NY!!

Club Innocence - Club Innocence is a brand new night club that opened in Pueblo last weekend (June 20th).  So far its been a great experience being a part of this new business.  And as the clubs DJ I’ve also learned a lot about the 13-18 age group.  I’ve also realized that I’m even less of a fan of today’s Hip Hop than I previously thought!  Its amazing, I could play nothing but Soulja Boy all night and I don’t think I would get one complaint from any of the kids in the club!  Its ok though, I manage to slip in some Timbaland, Danja, and Neptunes produced tracks as well!  Its also really cool to see people dance to Blackout Beat produced music!  As I’m writing this, the club has only been opened for two nights.  It will be really interesting to see how it grows and how well it does in Pueblo. I’ll keep you all posted!

Revolution 1.5 -  Revolution 1.5 was finished over 2 months ago.  1.5 was going to be a free remix mixtape that would be available as a free download for our MySpace friends.  There are many different reasons that led to this projects many delayed release dates, but we did intend to release it.  Weeks before 1.5’s final release date we decided to cancel the project.  We felt that the sound of 1.5 was not consistent with the sound of the new projects we are close to releasing.  We did not want to give our fans music that we think is not our best work.  But don’t worry, we will still be releasing brand new digital mixtape the defiantly reflects our current sound.  This project titled, The Warning, will be announced within the next week and should be available by mid July.

Lexie - We are all happy to announce that we are in the studio again with recording artist Lexie.  I think all of our fans will be very happy and surprised to hear the new music we have been doing with her.  So far, Lexie has recorded tracks for Armando’s TBA LP and I just finished mixing a amazing Flamenco like track called “This is Not Goodbye” for my upcoming LP.  Its been a pleasure having her back in the studio and I really can’t wait to get more music done with her.

Revolution Promotion -  We are in talks with a local business to launch a joint venture that will be based around our music!  The venture will include the exclusive distribution of two Blackout Beat projects, The Blackout Revolution and The Warning mixtape.

I can’t say too much now but we should have some news by the end of the week!

Layouts -  Many of you have noticed that my MySpace layouts have all looked like comic book covers for the last two months.  Well I hope you like them because I’m going to keep using the comic cover themed layout!  Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a hugh comic fan.  A comic book cover is usually what sells the comic.  It tells you in one picture what you can expect the story to be about.  Thats what I try to do with my layout backgrounds.  For instance, it is a very exciting time for me in my life right now.  We have a lot of things going on and a NYC trip on the horizon.  Thats why my current background is so busy.   My last background had Armando and I standing with a group of words behind us crossed out.  The words included: Pueblo, Colorado, Danielle, Radio Edit, and the first season of our reality show, Behind The Beat.  The statement  I was making was that all the crossed out words are things that we are either done with, or moving away from.  I know that most of you understood what I was doing with the layouts but a few people didn’t.  Now you all have a lengthy explanation to refer to if there are ever any questions!

Latin Industry Magazine -  Armando and I just finished a interview for Latin Industry Connection Magazine!  The interview was very in depth and the June edition should be available as a free download very soon! We will let you know when and where you can download it!

Performances - We have been pretty busy in the studio for the last few months but that doesn’t mean you won’t get a chance to see us perform live in the near future!  We have many awesome performances coming very soon.  We will be performing at a benefit concert for the recent tornado victims that killed many in Kansas and we will also be performing for the 75 anniversary of CSU Pueblo and PCC.  More dates are going to be announced soon so make sure you check our calendar!

School  - For those of you who do not know I have been attending Berklee University’s online music college for quite some time now.  I have been working on a degree in music business and I’m thrilled to tell you all that in less than a week I will be done, and with a 4.0 grade average!!!   I have learned so much about the industry and I  am already starting to see the benefits of my education.

Dancing - I am in the process right now of selecting a choreographer from Colorado Springs or Denver to work with me on creating choreography and performance set ups for upcoming shows and music videos.  Naturally I’m very excited about this since I was introduced to the entertainment industry through dance.  Although I practice daily, I feel that in order for me to get to the next level I will need some help.  I will definitely be putting pics and video up of the dancing to let you all know how its coming along!

Thats was a lot of updates!  Thanks for reading and all of the support!  We are finally starting to see the benefits of all our hard work and its getting really interesting now.  Stay tuned for more!!!
