From the pen to the mic, words flow to paint pictures

From knowledge passed down from forgotten scriptures

the direction they flow is determined by our hunger

Caused by years of cultural assassinations that we no longer stand for

we strive to change the world for the few

Because that's who we are

nothing can change our determination

To implant the seed of change into this generation

The reality is that we've been programmed to hide behind our scars

You see I don't know the American dream, because I've never seen white picket fences

Just cement blocks, bars and inequalities are found in our trenches

So I make my dreams with the tools I am given

And too many of us forget the reason we are living

Many want to upgrade their lifestyle but not their community

Its same hypocrites who claim that the only answer to the problems is UNITY

But they are not willing to live where we live

Now you tell me, what gives?

Because we've been giving for centuries

Only to populate the nation's penitentiaries

Other's scream Revolution!

But don't understand the true meaning of action!

Not understanding that revolution begins with one's self

Tell me, How you plan to help someone if you can't help yourself?

No bootstraps to pull up from because we will never afford the boots

So we pull up from our guaraches, chanclas, sore feet and dry roots

Because the truth needs to be spoken

so deaf ears will rise

no longer being guided blindly, we will open our eyes

and show the opposition that you can't win with your lies.
