Have You Met...

Thanksgiving or Thanksfokillintheindians?

The truth about thanksgiving is debatable but by no means on that day it
wasn't just a large feast and merry moments to highlight its tradition
like it has been acknowledged till this day. Although I myself nor some
people I associate with don't celebrate "Thanksgiving" for its true
"Americanized" meaning their are millions of people world wide who do.
Many of which are unaware of the monstrosities that occurred to the
native people who were tricked and blindly lead to there death and to that
result murdered deceivingly for all they held dear.
What I do celebrate is the love between gatherings, Very gracious of its
togetherness, eating united and remembering those who couldn't be here.
To each is own but I still must try to educate as well. Some argue its
holiday, its origin is of pagan tradition or a mere day to recognize the
feast that united pilgrims and Indians who were allowed to settle on
Indian territory in peace. but what people aren't realizing is that most
natives were wiped out, poisoned for there generosity. Lets not forget
the life of these people who sacrificed there lives to up heave
scientific breakthroughs of medicine that we use to this very day.
Lets not forget the tools and survival tactics that were passed on to our
people and host of other benefits we acquired with the price of their
blood. I'm not saying the tribes or any side were both innocent in there time,
nor am I socially implying that I favored sides but for "visitors" to
commit such acts of betrayal after the natives extended there beds and
welcomed strangers into shelter who were a fact so corrupt and to lazy to till the ground and master outdoor living. they mentally enslaved the natives through there naiveness by no means can ever be justifiable. Then to mock or create a parade with gigantic cartoon balloons wobbling dangerously
through narrow streets to get the younger generations focus off of its true meaning so by all means it makes matters visibly unacceptable. its salt in a wound, sand in the eye's, a band aid over a gunshot to many. Its deliberate genocide.
Again these are my opinions but I have reason to believe in facts and
I've gotten both angles of this holiday that forces me to open another
can of worms and be reminded every year. I've been privileged to speak
to a few native Americans in my lifetime who ancestors suffered like
most of our ancestors did in slave trades, baseless wars, to the Nazis
or even the Armenians just to name a few. decades ago he explains
in his cracking voice he found it difficult that us as gods people, mother earth,
America "land of the free" dedicated a day to commemorate the brutality.
of not just Indians But human beings. who's family, friends and loved ones were either stripped, raped and or killed for all they loved and owned elicited a confusion in his face and watered his eyes enough that you could see the glass-like gloss in his pupil. So in my experience I say to you all is read your history, the right history! and rejoice and celebrate everyday not just the one appointed to us as Americans but the moments we cannot have back and with that said...
lets feast and make a toast to God for his mercy on us, to the natives
for there kindness and breakthroughs that never were credited perishing
in history when they should have been as iconic symbols to us all. and
to all those who can't be here via distance, military, prison or death.

Peace
