Many people know that i'm an emcee, a performance artist but do you know that i have a secret passion behind the camera lens. For me, it's important to be a well rounded artists. To know the stage just as much as what it takes to put the stage together. All of it it's important. I enjoy telling stories, and really take my craft seriously. So with all that said, I get a call to AD (assistant direct) a music video for Geto feat. Cassidy out in Brooklyn. Low budget by industry standards but still enough equiptment i could have shot four short films with. I said yes. It def. wasn't because of the money. I wan't to build my resume. I've worked on a couple of music videos so far for artists like Jim Jones, LDA, Lennox, Zion, Boy Wonder, and now Geto and Cassidy. I'm usually one of few females on the production end. Where you see the women, their usually modeling, posing, dancing. Even with just me being there, it's challenging stereotypes. Which is cool. I like that.
So we did it out in a pool hall in brooklyn, call time 8am. Guess... just guess what time we got our first shot off at? 3pm ! i'm not kidding. people were late, i had to get folks haircuts, it was crazy. But at the end of the day, its all about handling the crazy and getting the job done. Which i'm proud to say, did. We got what we wanted, and got outta there. I'm really excited to see how the video looks. I seem to work well under pressure... who knew. Maybe one day i'll be directing music videos in the future.... who knows.
