My journey in Comedy

I’m still searching for the right comedy show.
It was about 2 years ago when I made my way to the west coast in search of an opportunity to break through in showbiz. As a Nuyorican I have never been to LA but finally I had booked job to participate in a sketch comedy show. Was I excited? You bet your bottom dollar. I packed my bags and left in search of the dream. The show is SiTV’s Unacceptable Behavior and I was determined this would be my vieacle to stardom.
I flew from NY to LA and that was the beginning of my journey. I can honestly say that I couldn’t have done this without the help and support of 2 ladies. First my wife for allowing me to go and my friend Lola who gave me a place to stay. So there I was, everyday I would show up to the studio early and excited. I didn’t have a car so I became pretty familiar with the transit system in Hollywood (crowded doesn’t begin to explain it). We wrote, we laughed, and the day finally came when it was time to perform before a live studio audience. We did something like 7 to 10 sketches in one day and we loved it.
There was happy times and there was drama, but overall excitement filled the air. Then after nearly 4 months of work it was time to call it a rap. I flew back to the East coast excited to see the show air on TV. After almost half a year the moment had come and I was glued to the TV hoping the phone would ring. Who was I expecting to call? Well, Steven Spielberg of course…Well, it’s been 2 years now, and the only ones calling me are the collection agencies. Needless to say there was not a 2nd season of the show and these days I find myself watching the reruns of our show. So, if you or anyone you know is a producer or a casting director creating a new comedy show…guess who’s available. I also clean windows and do the dishes (and not that well if you ask my wife). Well, until then I hope you have enjoyed this blog, I’m off to wipe a tear that has dropped from my left eye.
