If you're Latino and past 30 then you will definitly remember the all Latino boy band MENUDO where Ricky Martin first got his start.

 

Being a Newyorican all my life I still remember when my mom took me to the run down Time Square movie theatre (a scary place back then) to watch the Menudo movie. How can I forget "ooohhh coqui" remember? Well MTV is trying to capatilize on the Menudo name by creating another all boy Latino group. I have to admite I caught the first episode and I'm just afraid for these kids. There is so much pressure being put on them to be the next best thing and to do it by the end of the first season of Making Menudo. Some of these kids are 13 years old. They were placed in a mansion in the middle of Miami and like they say "girls, girls, girls". Why am I scared for them? Because right now they are in cloud nine, but when this is all over (and it will be over) they are going to continue spending the rest of thier lives trying to keep this "high" going. How do I know? Well, let's just say there was once a cast on this Latino tv statation for a sketch comedy show. What was suppose to be magic ended up being a reunion of older Latino folks still trying re-live that "high" they once experienced many years ago.
