Wow! So I was going through old folders on my desktop and I found this poem. I don't remember when I wrote it or why, but I liked it. Crazy sometimes how you can surprise even your own self...
It is titled "Faith and Hope"; I'm not sure if I like the title... let me know what you think in a shoutout :)
Oh, I have dreamt of you on countless nights,
So countless in number, the stars have failed
To calculate the many times I have dreamt alone,
Using themselves like wooden beads in ancient,
Chinese, mathematical classrooms.
A man can only take so much
A man should only have to withstand so much.
But I have felt the weight of a billion seconds
Pressing itself on my bossom like steel tanks
On the dry, hard, compacted grains of sand .
It is silly to really ponder on whether
There is a god or if there is true love.
What do the answers to those questions
Really reveal about ourselves;
That we are dreamers? That we are slaves?
One day I will have you near me as we once were,
Naked and crazy, shouting at the moon like
Wolves in time of harvest, underneath the harvest moon.
We coo, we must, for freedom comes always
At a cost that no one can afford.
Today I swear by the moon, our nocturnal mother,
That you will not be in my dreams any longer.
Real does not need answers or proof.
We are one, we sum up to two,
But in the end, everything has nothing but faith and hope.
