Watch out ANTM, there’s some competition coming for the reality TV top spot. They are FIERCE and Latina. Not sure why the concept that Latinas are beautiful too is just now catching on, but nonetheless, I am glad to see it come to fruition on Si TV’s Model Latina. The show, which is set to air this summer, captures the trials and tribulations of 10 vivacious Latinas as they compete for the top spot and a modeling contract.

I got to meet three of the contestants yesterday on the set for the AOL Fashionista runway show, the online reality show where up-and-coming Latino Designers compete to get their designs on the runway. Think ANTM meets Project Runway, but a little easier on the eyes.

While over the weekend, I learned about how to take a photo, here I learned about how to get photo ready. Make up artist extraordinaire Karlo had this advice for Latinas regarding creating a look:

“Latin women have to be careful because they have 'it' already so sometimes they tend to over do it because they don’t realize that. We don’t need to do too much, we already have the tools – the dark long lashes, the dark brows which naturally frame the face, we got it all.”

“Look in the mirror. Face and embrace what it is you have. Own it! Stop trying to look like someone else, instead work with what you have, you are beautiful.”

How much do you love Karlo?? Other tips I got from being nosey on the set was that the number one rule in make up is to moisturize prior to putting on anything. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
