When I am not watching dancing dwarves in scary movies, I sometimes go out to parties. Last night I attended the Complex Revelation Magazine Issue launch party co-sponsored by Honda @ training camp. It ended up being a very cool event. Actually, of all the magazine parties I’ve been to in the last few weeks, this comes in #1, beating out Giant’s Prince tribute party (no open bar) and Blender’s issue release party (long wait in line for a folk performance?). Here is my sum up:

Pros:

Nice Venue - training camp is a sneaker store which made for a cool ambiance and the opportunity to shop.

Open bar - unlimited drinks …. The zentini was my fave for the night, pomegranate juice and vodka.

Free Massages - nuff said

Good music - The hidden DJ played an eclectic mix of hip hop soul

Cons – No real star quality, so no funny/ ignorant celeb stories to share this time folks, but there was actually a red carpet set up at this event and a fancy brand new silver 2008 accord parked in front of it just in case.

Highlights of the evening included: me chatting it up with other cool journalists, meeting the brother of the dude that plays Young Hova in the “Roc Boys” video, learning said brother is a filmmaker and actually has a series of Jay Z tribute videos featuring young hova, magnetic poetry on every table (I am a nerd) and my homie knocking someone’s drink out of their hand and spilling it everywhere. Luckily, this didn’t end up in an altercation (open bar keeps everyone in a good mood). Good times!
