What do Forest Whitaker, Don Cheadle, and Elizabeth Peña have in common?

Yes, they are all award winning actors and filmmakers... did they work in a film together? Nah! that’s not it. They are board members of an excellent organization called Film Independent formerly know as IFP/Los Angeles, who are responsible for the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards.

Why am I mentioning it?

It’s an excellent place for Filmmakers to hone their craft. You have a story to tell, and the world needs to hear the message, you are exploding to let out. Well, this is the place to go. They have filmmaker's labs for Directors, Producers, Screenwriters’ and the Project:Involve which is a mentor program that partners you up with an industry professional in the field you are in--- If you are a writer you will team up with a writer, and so on... I think that is totally fabulous!!!!

I am most definitely applying for the Screenwriter's lab and the Project:Involve. They help you with resources to make a movie from the business aspect--- which is one of the greatest obstacles we independent filmmakers face.

its like the next stop after film school or after the realization that you want to make a film!

So give them a look especially if you are serious about making your dreams of putting your films out there for the world to enjoy!
