Have You Met...

MALVERDE IN SOUTH BEACH, MIAMI!!

Mi Gente,

I am just recovering from my Miami trip. We were out there for the Latin Billboard conference and awards show. They were held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL by Fort Lauderdale. We stayed in South Beach but didn't get to see the beach up close till all the commotion was over. We were out there to promote, politic, rub some elbows, you know the deal. But as they say work hard, play hard! I went for a nice walk down Collins St.

I was taken by my tour guide, a local Dade County native, to a quaint little Cuban Cafe. When in Rome do as the Romans, no? So I had my Cuban Cafesito, I couldn't jump straight into the Cortadito, which is like a little shot of super strong coffee, more like liquid crack. Salud! There was a mysterious fellow sitting behind me with a white dot on his face.

I ordered Bistec al Caballo. It is Bistec de palomilla with eggs, hashbrowns and some Cuban bread. Just writing that sentence made me hungry. Food is such an important part of culture. Being in South Beach, at a Cuban Spot with the warm tropical ocean breeze swaying through the palm trees was definitely a moment.

I captured the moment. That's cultura I'm about to bite into. Nothing like good food, good conversation and some postcard worthy scenery to start the day. I can't say I said anything once I started stuffing my face though. I was emersed in everybite. All I needed was some chile a mordida and some tortillitas but that's a Mexican thang and we kept it on the Cubano tip.

No chile a mordida but Chilli Willy did the trick. As you can see, no me gusto! Na, in all seriousness, it was delicious. My hats off to my Cubanos! You can have me over for some desayuno anytime! I had yet to actually set foot on the Beach so we bought some agua and were on our way.

YES!!!! The moment had arrived. As I shifted my feet into the warm sand it truly hit me that I was in South Beach. I wanted to make my own Corona commercial, throw my blackberry into the ocean, but the grind must continue. What a way to finish up a great trip. We have lots of big things on the horizon. Stay tuned! Que Siga La Leyenda!
