Have You Met...

Back from Miami for the Soulfrito Concert

Soulfrito - has been putting Latino artists at the forefront of their media mission, creating a positive platform for Latino artists to reach the Latino community. They are going FIVE years strong and I'm grateful to Melissa Giles for asking me to be a part of it. Friday was a fundraiser/ performance and Sunday the big concert. This year's concert included ME :) Chino Dreadlion, The DEY, Notch, Fulanito, Kat DeLuna and more - Hosted by Angie Martinez and Fat Man Scoop.

After flying into Miami on Friday, there was little time to settle in the room at the Conrad Hotel... Show time at the Cielo nightclub was at 8 and I got in (because of overbooking and delays) at 6 so you can imagine the rush. All good though, made it to the venue in time to do a poem and introduce the band, Chino Dreadlion... former member of Yerba Buena (the funk soul band) now the lead singer has a band of his own. I call him a mix between Ruben Blades and Bob Marley, he's got a nice vibe, no doubt. The spot was nice, got to chill with Jorge of Urban Latino and Juanita... chilled with Santiago too, a super talented visual artist who was showcasing his masterpieces on the screen...got to rock with DJ Brass King from BK too. After the show, she had her usual Apple Martini, he had his Corona and then they were off.

Saturday was a personal day, chillin' with Lissette, Suero's sis, mad cool super nice. Got a massage, did some shoppin', even ate some ice cream. Missed the kids though, I can't do fun things and not think of them two little stinkers ;)

Sunday was the Soulfrito Concert right off of the beach, it was a nice spot, the public was out there in full force too. I got to meet up with my girl Dulce, we hadn't chilled for a minute... we were both hosting the early half of the concert. I got to see everybody except for Kat DeLuna, I had to leave before she got on cause my flight was at 5 am and a Bruja needs her zzzzs. That was the only down side, everything else was a blast. Go Soulfrito.
