So, October 11th at the University of Central Florida there was a free concert which was hosted by Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The headliner was Ghost Face Killah, and it was FREE! Now growing up poor and listening to Wu-Tang half our lives, anything with the word free and any Wu-affiliate members name after it is a blessing for us. So we rounded up the usual suspects Twist(Albert), Mangu(Eric), Kwest, Natty, Carolina, Yani, Domingo, and Jesus, not Jesus where the J sounds like an H, just Jesus. The story behind that is a long one. Even though we left from Twist's pad which is across the street from the University we still managed to arrive late (see previous blog). The air was crisp, the stars were out and we had been drinking. The stage was in the middle of a field on campus known as the Mall. The crowd was pretty sizeable, though we expected more people, being that this was a well known artist. ![]()

The first thing he did was go into his verse from the song "Ice Cream" off the classic Raekwon album, Built Only 4 Cuban Linx. Of course the crowd went crazy for that one. He had his entourage with him, the Theodore Unit, and many of the songs he did afterward were songs featuring them. We were hoping he'd do some more songs off of Supreme Clientele and Fishcale, his two best albums by far. However he did some really good songs. Af one point he called up for all the local talent to get up on stage to showcase thier skills, we tried to get twist to go, who by the way was better than any of those guys by a long shot, but he refused. Out of the 12 guys on stage two of them were decent. Then Ghost went into another verse from the Cuban Linx album, he did "Criminology", for any one who doesn't know its the song with the Scarface sample in the beginning when he's arguing with Sosa. Anyhow the crowd went crazy, the beat alone was intoxicating.
After a few more songs they called for dancers to come up stage to do their thing. We convinced Natty and Carolina to go up. When they got up their they played "Put it in Your Mouth" by Akinyele, one of the most raunchiest songs about oral sex ever made. At that point we knew what time it was, they were looking for groupies not dancers. After that awkward moment, Ghost and Theodore Unit did a few more songs then ended their set with the banger "Cher Chez La Ghost" off of 1999's classic Supreme Clientele. The show was hot, I've seen Ghost do better, but still a free spontaneous outdoor concert in perfect cool night time weather. You can't beat that....(Bring the Ruckus!)
