It's always amazing to see life come full circle (except for when it's more like karma kicking you in the ass and having you fall flat on your face - oopss ADD, sorry!). In this particular scenario, it's been a positive force.

Back in early 2006, I was introduced to a dude from the Bronx named Divine who was a friend of my boys Monse and Tato. That connection alone was enough for me to know he was a solid person with a good heart. Divine told me about the music group he was a part of called The DEY, and Monse passed me their mixtape. They had a sound that was nothing like what I was hearing on the radio and I liked it. I believed in them. My support was only reinforced when D took me along to his guest performed with Yerbabuena at SOB's. He proved to be a great lyricist and his flow worked magically with the group's sound. I was sure D would make it.

Granted, it's almost exactly two years later, but with time comes great accomplishments. I had seen The DEY's video "Give You the World" blasted on MTV3s and music video sites, but when my editor at Rap-Up Magazine asked me to interview the group I got chills. This would be the second time I'd interview a friend, but the other friend I've interviewed had already been in the spotlight for years. This crew of talented artists are still basking in the newness of it all. I answered the interview call giddy and excited for them. At least five of the twenty minutes allotted for the call was spent catching up and congratulating, then we got onto the good stuff.

As far as the interview itself, you'll have to wait until it's published in Rap-Up Mag (March). Sowwy! But, I will tell you that Divine, Yeyo and Elan have serious lasting power and I'm honored to be one of the first to interview them before they end up doing full spreads for Rolling Stone :). Congrats guys!!
