Have You Met...

2008 VMAs Thumbs Up or Down?

Did anyone watch the VMAs? I'm really eager to see people's opinions on the VMAs. For a long time I couldn't wait to see the show and now– not soo much. Don't get me wrong I am counting down the days until it is my turn to perform cuz that has always been a dream of mine however; I would want to make the performance special... different... giving respect to what music is.

Look I'm for people like Britney Spears having a rough time and coming out of it. Your only human right? However don't give us this hype of Britney Spears opening up the show and nada all she did was introduce 25 years blah blah blah. She looked phenomenal but I was hoping for a performance. If I was her and I am trying to make a comeback I would of put on a great freaking performance one that would be the talk for the next 25 years... but that's just me.

Rihanna is our new Britney (minus being a great dancer, ever notice she doesn’t move around much). She's beautiful and I feel she is a good consistent entertainer. I felt that her performance with T. I. was better than the opening performance.

My Favorite Artist whom I was so anxious, curious, and excited to see... did blow me away however I was poquito confused. Christina Aguilera is celebrating a decade of music and you know she so deserves it. I think its great. I saw her interview with Russell Brand and I think its cool that she's doing this futuristic style, aroma, high energy. But I wasn't to fond of her performance. I don't understand why in her new song she has to use the word “Bitch” I would understand it coming from Britney (It's Britney... Bitch) however; not from Aguilera. I just have such high respect for her that I feel she has worked so hard to gain the respect and change her style from being “Dirty.” Her musicianship and vocal acrobatics shows thats she's the best. I feel that using the word "Bitch" kinda negates the whole purpose of who she is and what she fought for. She is our generation's vocal pop icon. And I think that word doesn't suit her and I feel that her new song doesn't allow to show that great part of her. I don't get it. The great female voices of our time off the top of my head like Etta James, Tina Turner, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion... would never use that word in a song. I see Aguilera on that pedestal. Her performance was fierce, professional, the best cuz that's how she is. Let's see what journey Christina Aguilera is going to take us on.

OVERALL  I feel the VMAs has to be about the music. I don't feel that the setting of the show served its purpose. The energy wasn't right.

From 1 to 10... I give it a 6.
