So the big buzz in the Latino Market here in NYC has been the whole radio drama between La Kalle 105.9 fm and La Mega 97.9 fm. Last year La Mega's dynamic duo Luis Jimenez and Moonshadow left their morning show "El Vacilon" simply because Luis' contract ran out with La mega and they decided to travel to greener pastures. Luis Jimenez found himself being offered a nice deal by Univision to come to their station in NY 105.9 fm La Kalle and do his show from there. He really wanted to take moonshadow his co-host and comprade with him. Moon however still had a year left of his contract with La Mega's parent company Spanish Broadcast systems. Luis negotiated his deal with Univision and started to do his new morning show "The Luis Jimenez Show' in several markets except for NY. His old morning show crew decided to stay where they were at and that is when all this drama started. I'm not going to go into details what both parties feel is right or not. I just want to make it clear that Luis Jimenez and Moonshadow are not enemies, Luis happens to be Moonshadow' son Mooncito' godfather. There is no hate between them they continue to be friends but find themselves working in different radio stations at the time being. I know all this because I too am very good friends with both parties and hate what the media is doing by trying to pin these guys against each other. What Luis Jimenez feels his crew did to him may be valid but again that is now why I write this. I write this because I feel that some will read this and understand that sometimes in life you make hard choices they might not be the best ones but they are your own. Luis is a great guy he's been a friend and a brother and so is moonshadow. I wish both of them the best in their careers and am glad to have them as friends in the business.
