So let me break it down to you right quick…. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the most popular Mixed Martial Arts league in the world due to the right marketing, TV show on Spike TV, and some rule changes.  However, what people don’t know is that the Pride Fighting League out of Japan has by far the better fighters and due to contract restrictions UFC fighters weren’t able to fight Pride fighters until now.

Earlier this year president of UFC Dana White purchased the Pride Fighting League in order to settle the dispute of who really has the better fighters and last weekend was a taste of things to come.

The UFC’s top fighter, Light Heavyweight Champ Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell (20-4) faced off against Pride Fighting vet Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (27-6) in a rematch of “The Iceman’s” last defeat in 2003.

In less than 2 minutes in the first round Rampage threw a short right that we like to call a “one hitter quitter” and the fight was over.  Thus, confirming that all UFC fans out there better get to know these names from Pride as soon all the belts will belong to them:

Fedor Emelianenko-Heavyweight Champ at 26-1 (The Mike Tyson of MMA right now, he would make even Hall of Famer and current UFC Heavyweight Champ Randy Couture look bad)

Dan Henderson-Light heavyweight Champ at 22-5 (just beat Wanderlei Silva and will be Rampages next opponent)

Wanderlei Silva-Ex-Light heavyweight Champ at 31-7 (destroyed Rampage twice already and will be Liddell’s next opponent)

Mirko “Cro-Cop” Filipovic-22-5 (had a set back in his opening UFC fight but I promise you he’ll be back & fighting Fedor for the belt again)

Finally…Maricio “Shogun” Rua-16-2 only 26yrs old, whopped Rampage, and is probably the best all around fighter in all MMA…scheduled to fight Tito Ortiz if Tito gets by Rashad Evans.
