Im excited to report a few friends of mine are creating a Grammy catagory dedicated to progressive soul. Dexter Story (Templebar/Life Force Trio) who once worked as product manager at Def Jam back in the day is pushing for the creation of a catagory that reconizes the likes of Sa Ra, Sy Smith, Meshell Ndegeocello, and other underdogs who do not fit in the "pop catagory" but do not fit into "this" catagory, but do not fit into "that catagory".    
Mr. Story is not alone, and is joined by fellow R&B sub committee members Garth Trinidad (KCRW/CHOCOCLATE CITY) and VIKTER DUPLAIX as well as various other musical heaveyweights.  Lets keep out fingers crossed and hope we get some good soul music nomitated this year!
