So on September 17th 2007 I get any email with a subject that reads “Congratulations”, besides the fact I’m waiting for an email with this kind of subject on it (but thinking its coming directly from an “specific” source), I say to myself, “oh great another spam email.” I usually delete those types of email with out even opening them, but this time something said to me, “take a look at it, don’t delete it.

I decide to open the “spam” email, little did I know I was about to read the information that would change my life for the upcoming months. There it was, the sentence that made my mouth drop and my eyes get as wide as they can, “Dear Angie, This email is to inform you that you have been chosen as the preliminary winner of Verizon Wireless' search for the New Latin Host on V CAST”.

I started to job up and down, shouting to myself “I WON!! I WON!!” Not knowing what to do, whom to call or where to go, I sat on my bed for a couple of minutes and slowly took it all in. I wrote an email back to the sender, stating how happy I was, and that I was looking forward to working with them. Next, the massive texting begun!!!

Receiving the news that I have won was a great feeling. I had put in a lot of time and energy asking my friends and family to vote and reminding them to vote every day (it was a daily voting contest) and the fact that I was competing against about 100 contestants from around the country and they chose me, really made me believe more in myself and my talent. My friends and family were very happy and proud and they made sure I knew it! They gather together and threw me a “Congratulations on winning party” in a lounge in NY, of course, anything is a good reason para fiestar for us!

The months to come? The best time of my career….
